Daniel Lowery
A native North Carolinian, Daniel grew up in Wilson and received a B.A. in Anthropology with a minor in History from North Carolina State University. While attending N.C. State, he assisted with fieldwork at the Middle Bronze Age site of Makounta-Voules on the island of Cyprus. He also interned at the university’s Roman Archaeology laboratory, directed by Dr. Thomas Parker. He then attended East Carolina University, where he received an M.A. in Anthropology.
While attending ECU, Daniel began his career with OSA by working as a graduate assistant at the OSA Conservation Lab. He completed an intensive internship with a focus on the conservation of metal artifacts from Brunswick Town, and aided in the conservation of Queen Anne's Revenge. Additionally, he served as a crew chief in an excavation at the Palmer-Marsh House in Bath, NC led by ECU Anthropology and Dr. Charles Ewen. Daniel was later hired as the lab office manager at the OSA Conservation Lab, and then became the office manager at the Underwater Archaeology Branch in 2025.
