MRI is a non-profit corporation being created in North Carolina to act in cooperation with the State on intensive exploration and study of what is believed to be the Queen Anne's Revenge. Due to the likely historical significance of the wreck, Intersal has decided that artifacts found should remain intact as a collection and that MRI should handle this stage of the project. MRI will work with appropriate state agencies and academic institutions to excavate the site, conduct further research on this wreck, and study and curate all artifacts, which it is hoped will eventually be displayed publicly.
