The Queen Anne's Revenge (QAR) Project is an
enormous undertaking involving many individuals, organizations, agencies
and companies, both public and private. From 2000 to 2008 financial
gifts have been managed by the North Carolina History Council. The QAR
Project staff wishes to acknowledge the generous contributions
of time, personnel, equipment and expertise in all of the following
categories:
-
Field Operations Support
The following institutions, companies, and individuals have made significant contributions to the QAR Project by donating time and equipment needed to conduct extended field operations since the discovery of the shipwreck in 1996.
-
Analytical Research
Scientists and technicians from a variety of institutions have contributed valuable analytical research to better understand the nature and origin of many artifacts recovered from QAR. The wreck site environment has also been extensively studied.
-
Laboratory Equipment
The conservation of artifacts recovered from QAR incorporates a wide variety of tools, equipment, chemicals, and supplies. Operating budgets are never entirely adequate, and donations, however small, are greatly appreciated.
-
Financial Support
Large operating budgets are needed not only to sustain
field operations, but also to properly conserve the thousands of
artifacts recovered from QAR. Monetary donations are particularly
important when emergency needs arise because equipment and repairs
can be paid for quickly without going through State procurement
procedures.
-
Education & Promotion
Providing programs in education is a important aspect of the
QAR project. These take many forms: professional and popular
publications, television documentaries, news stories, lectures and
presentations and educational booths in public venues. Significant
contributions have allowed the staff to conduct the highly successful
QAR DiveLive Internet program that has reached thousands
of students throughout the state and nation.
