Eighteen groups of hoops have been found in areas of the site uncovered and planned but not yet excavated. Analysis shows that approximately ninety percent of the diameters that could be measured were between 22-42 inches, corresponding to the diameter ranges for barrels, tierces, hogsheads and French sugar barriques. Some hoops diameters would also be consistent with those for puncheons, pipes and even tun.
