A brass two-piece Button consists of a brass dome fitted over a bone disc back and then held together with a fixed brass wire loop or eye used to sew it onto a coat. (Figure 1. and 2.) A second button, which is made of wood, is flat on top with a slightly curved base and a centrally located drilled hole for attachment. This type was often covered with silk, woolen or golden threads for ornamentation. (Figure 3.)
