| This unique cast brass cockerel finial with a broken mount may have been part of a pipe tamper or similar device. The cockerel was used as a church steeple ornament, representing the Christians use as symbol for Passion Of Christ. It was also the national symbol of France, formerly known a Gaul, hence gallus gallus. |
